Aerovolt - bringing the world's fastest EVTOL charger?
enter EV wizard, François Randin into the fray
In the land of EVTOL chargers which we haven’t really covered here before, Switzerland's very own EV wizard, François Randin, has decided to sprinkle a little of his eco-friendly magic. Aerovolt, the London-based start-up that's been building the world's first-ever charging network for our future flying cars and eVTOLs, has just snagged Randin for its Board of Directors.
Now, for those of you scratching your heads wondering who this François is, imagine being so ahead of the game that you popped the world's first electric aircraft charging station out of your hat back in 2020. That's François for you. Now he's teaming up with Aerovolt. They're all about zapping some sustainability into aviation.
Before François became the electric aviation guru, he was the brains behind two electric mobility start-ups that went from being the new kids on the block to getting snapped up by the big dogs. Green Motion, his 2009 brainchild, was all about crafting the first charging stations for electric vehicles and caught Eaton's eye in 2021. Then there's evpass, launched in 2018, which grew to be Switzerland's largest electric vehicle charging network before Shell said, "We'll take it," in 2023.
Philip Kingsley-Dobson, the head over at Aerovolt, called François the EV industry's golden boy. With 15 years of electrifying experience, an international rolodex (remember those?), and startup savvy, François is basically the superhero Aerovolt didn't know they needed.
Aerovolt's already making waves with no one else riding their electric surfboard in this niche. They've got their sights set on dominating the UK skies before taking their show on the road internationally, post-next cash injection.
François, the humble genius he is, tipped his hat to Aerovolt, calling them the electric mobility space's next big thing. He's all in, ready to help the team soar to new heights and sprinkle their eco-friendly fairy dust across the globe.
Aerovolt is laying down the electric red carpet for our future flying cars, working hand-in-hand with the people who make the rules, the ones who build the planes, and the airport gatekeepers. Since popping up on the scene in 2022, they've been hustling hard:
Chatting up nearly 70 UK airports, with 11 already exclusively on board.
Boasting 6 installations with 18 more on the launchpad for 2024.
Teetering on the brink of a handshake deal with CAA International for their Aerovolt ATIS system.
Gearing up for the first-ever airfield to airfield eVTOL flight – because, why not?
Plotting to take their charging stations on a world tour.
So, there. We finally have some coverage about EVTOL and flying car chargers. I’m sure there will be more to come in the near future.
