The team at Beta Technologies has been brewing up what seems like the UBER of flying cars - to deliver customers to their destinations and back.
While it does seem like a very promising idea for many reasons, I wasn’t too enthusiastic about what I was seeing (visually) in recent articles. Mostly because it looks straight-up like a helicopter with 4 rotors.
With safety being one of my primary concerns for this new industry of flying cars that will transport people all over the world, only 4 rotors does not seem enough to keep me not afraid of flying in one.
That being said, I shouldn’t harp on the design too much. If they are paving the way for more sustainable air taxis, I’m all for it.
From their site: The aircraft are designed using first principles of physics to fly in the safest, most efficient way possible. They utilize BETA’s patented electric propulsion systems and produce zero operational emissions. Both aircraft have an exceptionally aerodynamic form factor, a light weight structure, and carry advanced energy-dense batteries. The aircraft has a 50 foot wingspan and will carry up to 5 people and a pilot.
and from a top down view, it does actually look kinda cool. Mechanically, this seems like a step in the right direction, for flying cars with larger payloads.
