Hello everyone! I am back, in full effect. Took a little trip to visit friends for the holiday week but all is going back to normal as I’m strapped in with as much caffeine as I can handle for the day. So what’s happened since I was gone relating to eVTOL’s and flying cars?
According to AI and experts from DiscoverCars.com, such vehicles might only become a reality by 2073. Not sure what is so special about that year, but the collaboration with a mechanical engineering specialist led to the creation of AI-generated images, envisioning futuristic car designs for the years 2033, 2048, and 2073. These designs emphasize advanced technology and innovation.
By 2033, cars could incorporate haptic feedback systems and lightweight materials like carbon fiber. The vision for 2048 (WipEout 2048 anyone?) includes fully self-driving cars, possibly powered by solar energy or solid state batteries. The most striking prediction is for 2073, where cars are imagined to have VTOL (vertical take-off and landing) capabilities, potentially using jet engines for high-speed travel and having the ability to 'feel' and 'communicate' with drivers. Ok wait, we’re halfway there already.
Then DiscoverCars.com used Midjourney AI (what’s shown above) to generate realistic car images for these future years, revealing variations in the predictions. Experts anticipate larger, shape-adaptable vehicles, while Midjourney suggests designs similar in size and shape to current cars. For 2073, the AI predicts interiors with seats facing each other, living plant walls for air purification, and versatile spaces for relaxation, work, or socializing.
I think we’re seeing great advances already with VTOL aircraft and flying car technology and we’re about to have various aircraft in our skies taking us short distances (like for commutes) in a few years.
Aleksandrs Buraks, Head of Growth at DiscoverCars.com, noted: "The conversation about what cars will be like in the future is very lively - there is often news about how close we are to self-driving cars, or even cars that can fly. However, it’s not easy to imagine how this highly anticipated technology will look.
"After gathering some amazing insights from an expert, we wanted to use AI to bring these predictions to life. It was fascinating to see how many features of these cars of the future already exist in some capacity - these cars are examples of what could happen when technology that is now experimental becomes an expected part of automotive design. The cars look incredible and we can’t agree at DiscoverCars.com which one we would most like to take for a spin!"
The concept of a shape shifting car is not new at all, and yes, I do believe by 2073, we’ll have all of these things. So - while it may have been stating the obvious, Discover Cars, is definitely not wrong imo.
