Ever found yourself clicking on those tempting clickbait articles, particularly ones promising stock tips? If you're anything like me, you might occasionally succumb to curiosity, hoping to stumble upon something intriguing.
Recently, while casually scrolling through my Google news feed on my phone, I came across an article from Investor Place that caught my attention. The piece was all about Flying Car stocks and the burgeoning interest in flying cars and eVTOLs. It enthusiastically touted certain companies as being "set to soar."
However, here's where things take an unexpected turn. The first article, published on November 3rd, fervently built up the hype around flying cars: https://investorplace.com/2023/11/the-3-best-flying-car-stocks-to-buy-in-november-2023/
Now, what happened less than 24 hours later was bizarro-land. Investor Place did a complete about-face in their follow-up article, critiquing the very same stocks they had just been hyping:
‘Avoid these flying car stocks which are mostly hype’ https://investorplace.com/2023/11/why-its-time-to-get-out-of-flying-car-stocks-3-to-sell/
I don’t know about you, but it seems rather peculiar that Investor Place executed a 180-degree flip on the whole flying car topic, going so far as to advise equity investors to steer clear of these supposedly speculative investments.
And who got the axe? Three of the most promising: Archer, Joby, and Ehang.
If you're familiar with the term "pump and dump," these two articles could easily fit that description. It's worth noting that the two articles had different authors, which raises the possibility that two writers at Investor Place don't see eye to eye when it comes to flying cars. However, the timing of these articles, published almost back-to-back, strikes me as quite unusual, and I can't help but feel concerned for those who may have hastily jumped on board, only to have the rug pulled out from under them within 24 hours.
As for the fate of these stocks, only time will tell whether they will rise or fall in the coming days (it's currently Sunday here). For now, and always, my advice would be to take any stock recommendations with a grain of salt that's as heavy as a 10-pound block.
