Not sure why I haven’t covered this yet as it’s been on all my lists, but the Jetson One has gotten considerable press after some truly amazing videos were shown off, and some customers got their hands on one to put it through its paces.
Sitting in the category with the Ryse Recon, Skyla v2, and other small ones (let’s call them Mini personal eVTOLs) it has an all up weight of 86 kg, flight time of 20 minutes (ok they can do better) and a top speed of 102 km/h.
Also looks perfectly suited to carry a storm trooper through the desert.
The Jetson is a personal cruiser for weekend fun. This is absolutely the kind of vehicle they’d I’d purchase if I had the extra benjamins sitting in drawers somewhere. To that point, it’s less than $100k. For what you get, it seems like the most value for a flying car in this market today.
It has a lightweight design, made from aluminum and carbon fiber, and from all accounts so far, is really fun to fly. It has eight brushless motors, driving an equal amount of propellers. The propulsion system has a massive power output (enough to carry a full sized human), making flight almost effortless.
And what about safety? That’s kind of important, so I’ll list some key features:
Race car-inspired Spaceframe safety cell design
Hands free hover and emergency functions
Ballistic parachute with rapid deployment time
Can fly safely with the loss of one motor
Redundant Battery Propulsion System
Lidar sensor driven auto landing system
Jetson has made plenty of news, with the Black Eyed Peas founder, Will.i.am contributing a nice chunk of change (I previously posted about that in a news article) to the company to get things going.
Sadly, they are currently sold out of the 2023 batch with next deliveries not taking place until 2024. Luckily that’s not too far away. So if you’ve got some extra money to blow and you’d like to fly around in your backyard, here’s the order link: https://www.jetsonaero.com/order#orderForm
