It seems these personal eVTOLs are really coming out of the woodwork now. I’d like to propose a new name for this category. How about… VTRFV (vertical takeoff recreational flying vehicle?) ehhhhh…. Will keep thinking about that.
The Ryse Recon is another one of these, and is built for cruising around with no pilot’s license - weekend warrior style. They claim it is really easy to use - but you likely won’t be commuting to work in this vehicle. It just won’t have enough range yet to get most people to their offices.
The video on their website looks really impressive - but one interesting thing I just noticed about the vehicle is it looks like the airframe has a built in black plastic trash bag (I assume not for collecting trash) and maybe its more meant for some type of cushion for the rider.
Here are some specs:
Payload. 250LBS*
Top speed: 63MPH
Max flight time: 25MINS
*Specification depends on many factors including, but not limited to, weight, weather and battery life.
I’m not overly impressed with those specs, but with time, the flight time will get better, better battery technology, etc.
Ryse plans to start delivering the $150,000 aircraft to customers in the fourth quarter of 2023. That’s now! It’s available for Pre-Order but I don’t see anything about deliveries yet. Put this in the same category as the Jetson One.
We’ll keep you updated on this one, overall I’m liking the presentation and the use case (even though the range isn’t great yet)
